Cruising Made Easy: Tips, Reviews & Cruise Vacation Inspiration

My Personal Review of the Quantum of the Seas 🚢

I lucked out and got comped a cruise on Quantum of the Seas, and let me tell you—I was beyond excited! I’d sailed before on her sister ship, Anthem of the Seas, so I had a sense of the layout, but I was eager to discover what sets Quantum apart.

From the moment I stepped onboard, it was a whirlwind of discovery—jaw-dropping views from the North Star, endless food options that ranged from gourmet to guilty-pleasure indulgences, and entertainment that kept me smiling night after night. Every corner of the ship offered something new to explore, and I found myself constantly amazed by the creativity and innovation packed into this floating city.

Sailing with Royal Caribbean International on one of their most groundbreaking ships was an experience I won’t soon forget. So grab a drink, get comfy, and let me take you through my personal highlights of life onboard Quantum of the Seas!

First Impressions When I Boarded

Walking onto Quantum of the Seas for the first time was pure excitement. The moment you step onto the Royal Esplanade deck, you can feel the modern design and attention to detail everywhere you look. The ship is huge, but cleverly laid out—after the first day, finding your way around feels surprisingly intuitive.

I spent that first afternoon just wandering the decks, soaking it all in. Everywhere I turned, there was something new to see or do, and it hit me just how packed with experiences this ship really is. From the sweeping views to the buzzing activity around every corner, it’s the kind of place that makes you want to explore every inch.

My Cabin Experience

Stepping into our cabin felt instantly cozy and well-designed. Cruise rooms aren’t huge, but Quantum of the Seas makes the most of every inch. Everything had its place, and I loved the clever storage solutions. My large suitcase slid perfectly under the bed, leaving plenty of space to move around. There was also storage above the sofa, two roomy cabinets, and a dresser—plenty of space for two people to unpack and feel at home.

One of my favorite parts? Waking up each morning to the ocean right outside our balcony. There’s something incredibly peaceful about starting your day with endless blue waves stretching to the horizon. If you’re sailing for more than three nights, I can’t recommend an ocean balcony room enough—it’s such a treat.

Our stateroom attendant was fantastic, keeping everything clean and tidy throughout the cruise. Every other day, he even left a cute towel animal waiting for us—a little surprise that made the cabin feel extra special.

If I had to suggest one small improvement, it would be the placement of charging plugs. There’s one by one side of the bed and another at the vanity, but having an extra plug on the other side of the bed would be super helpful—especially since we had our beds set up as twins. With multiple devices, a few extra outlets would make life onboard even easier.

Activities I Tried on the Ship

One thing that stood out about Quantum of the Seas was the amount of activities available. There’s honestly something for every type of traveler.

SeaPlex

The SeaPlex was also a lot of fun. It’s basically a huge indoor activity center where you can try things like bumper cars, roller skating, and other games.

It’s also a great place to just hang out for a while and watch everyone having a good time. My favorite activity was definitely the bumper cars. The ride length is surprisingly long—about the same as what you’d experience at an amusement park.

One thing to keep in mind is that you must wear tennis shoes to participate. Sandals and flip-flops aren’t allowed.

Another option is purchasing a Fast Pass for about $6 to skip the line. But honestly, you can probably save your money. The line tends to move pretty quickly, so the wait usually isn’t bad.

Food & Dining

Food is a big part of any cruise, and there were definitely plenty of delicious options onboard.

The Windjammer Marketplace quickly became one of my go-to spots because there were always so many choices. From hot breakfast favorites to lighter options, there was something for everyone. Sitting by the windows with a plate of breakfast and watching the ocean roll by was easily one of my favorite ways to start the day.

For specialty dining, Chops Grille was a real highlight. The steak was cooked perfectly, the service was excellent, and the whole experience felt like a special night out. It does come with an extra charge, but we were able to get 30% off dinner while we were onboard, which made it an even better deal.

There were also plenty of casual spots to grab a quick snack, coffee, or dessert throughout the day. Sorrento’s Pizza is always a lifesaver for those late-night cravings, and Café Promenade had some great little sandwiches and quick bites. The best part? These spots are included in your cruise fare, so you can stop by whenever you want without worrying about an extra charge.

Entertainment Onboard

Evenings on the ship were always a lot of fun because there was something happening every night. From live music to high-energy shows, the ship really came alive after dinner. 🎶

One of my favorite shows was One Hit Wonders in Two70. It’s such a unique venue with huge windows overlooking the ocean during the day, but at night it transforms into an impressive performance space. I also loved The Decades Dance Party, which had everyone on their feet dancing and singing along. The entertainment team did an amazing job keeping the energy high and getting the crowd involved.

Another great spot in the evening was the Schooner Bar. The piano entertainment makes it a really fun place to hang out. The pianist does a fantastic job getting the whole crowd singing along, and before you know it the entire room is part of the show. 🎹

I also enjoyed spending time at the Harp & Horn, where a talented guitar player takes requests and plays many of your favorite songs. It’s a relaxed, cozy place to sit back and enjoy some great music.

Some nights I’d simply wander around the different lounges, listening to live music or grabbing a drink while soaking in the atmosphere. It’s one of those things I love most about cruising—you can make the evening as lively or as relaxed as you want. 🍹🚢

Relaxation Time

Not every moment was busy though. Some of my favorite cruise memories were the quiet ones.

Spending time by the pool, sitting on deck watching the ocean, or visiting the Vitality Spa made the trip feel relaxing and balanced.

Cruises are great because you can do as much or as little as you want.

What I Loved Most

• The variety of activities onboard
• Incredible ocean views everywhere
• Great food options throughout the ship
• A fun and lively atmosphere

A Small Downside

ike on any cruise, there were a few small things to keep in mind.

• The Windjammer Marketplace can get pretty busy on embarkation day and during the morning breakfast rush. That’s pretty typical on cruise ships since it’s the main buffet and a lot of guests head there first. A good tip is to remember that there are other great breakfast options onboard, including the Main Dining Room, which usually offers a more relaxed sit-down breakfast with fewer crowds.

Overall though, little things like this didn’t take away from the experience at all. They’re just part of cruising, and with so many dining choices onboard, it’s easy to find a spot that works for you.

My Final Thoughts

Sailing on the Quantum of the Seas was an experience I would definitely recommend. Whether you’re traveling with family, friends, or as a couple, there’s a lot to enjoy onboard.

Between the activities, great food, and relaxing ocean views, it’s the kind of vacation that creates memories you’ll talk about long after the trip ends.

If you’re thinking about booking a cruise with Royal Caribbean International, this ship is a great choice.
